Human Resource Manager - Residence Hotel Zanzibar

Job Summary
Ÿ   In coordination with the management team, in the service of ensuring that the organization meets its goals, develop and implement strategies and systems to ensure that the right human resources are in place at the right time and are working to maximum effectiveness and motivation. The HRM advises the GM and management team on the most professional and appropriate human resource instruments and strategies.
Ÿ   At the invitation of the Management, the HRM participates actively in management meetings. The priorities of the HRM are set and carried out under the direction of the GM.
Ÿ   The Human Resources Manager (HRM) heads the Human Resources Department and is responsible for oversight of all human resources systems and procedures, including recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management (evaluations), conflict resolution, and compensation/rewards management and ensuring compliance with governing regulations.  The HRM is responsible for the development and implementation HR policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Ÿ   Manage personnel files, on the basis of incoming, hiring, transfer, promotion, resignation and other modification data.
Ÿ   Manage the computer system related to the staff update and random check with the employee files
Ÿ   Compiles the operational staffing schedule / manning guide with support of General Manager and financial controller.
Ÿ   Updating of personnel manuals, of salary, bonus, payroll benefits, etc.
Ÿ   Administration of work and residence permits applications.
Ÿ   Conducts job application correspondence and sees to due and proper answering and filing of all documents, applications adverts, etc.
Ÿ   Follow up and initiates yearly performance evaluations at supervisory staff levels.
Ÿ   Administration of attendance and production of weekly reports
Ÿ   Attend Departmental briefings and assist in solving staff employees’ issues and complaints. In collaboration with the senior management team, establish and oversee processes that prevent internal conflicts among staff members and departments, and that facilitate resolution of conflicts when they occur.
Ÿ   Medical insurance, medical services and hotel Clinic
Ÿ   Ensures proper job descriptions are available for all functions, continuously adapts them in co-ordination with relevant supervisors to operational requirements.
Ÿ   Follow up on legal requirements such as HACCAP, Food Handlers etc.
Ÿ   Organize staff outings, sports and cultural activities along with the staff welfare committee in co-ordination with HR Assistant.
Ÿ   Analyses the working atmosphere and discusses possible improvements with GM
Ÿ   Surveys remuneration and social benefit policies of other competitors and compares them with our policies, on a yearly basis.
Ÿ   Conducts exit interviews with all resigning employees to establish reason patterns for resignation.
Ÿ   Ensures the general orientation during the introduction of new employees.
Ÿ   Arrange Employee transportation in co-ordination with HR Assistant.
Ÿ   Informs GM important events and news from within the hotel operation to avoid misunderstandings and rumours/gossip.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ÿ   Bachelor or Master’s Degree in a relevant field.
Ÿ   Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position
Ÿ   Previous work experience in five star hotels will be added advantage.
Ÿ   Strong knowledge of local labor law and employment practices.
Other Competencies
Ÿ   Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ÿ   Ability to develop systems and policies.
Ÿ   Excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
