About US:  
The AIDS Support Organization (TASO Uganda) is an organisation contributing to a process of preventing HIV infection, restoring hope and improving thequality of Life of persons, families and communities affected by HIV infection and disease.

Job Summary:  The Internal Auditor will carry out all internal audit activities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Prepare or contribute to the preparation of work plans and working papers for conducting audit exercises
  • Plan and conduct audit exercises
  • Actively participate in the compiling of Audit Reports and follow-up actions thereafter
  • Bring the attention of the Chief Internal Auditor to all material issues relating to current and previous audit exercises
  • Prepare and file working papers documenting adequately work performed for review by Chief Internal Auditor
  • Develop a risk based test plan by selecting appropriate audit approach, test procedures and sampling criteria based on professional judgment and TASO defined internal audit methodology.
  • Identify and document control weaknesses and provide evidential support for findings
  • Actively propose practical and value added recommendations to address control weaknesses and other inefficiencies
  • Perform routine risk assessments and identify controls in place to mitigate identified risks
  • Identify control gaps and opportunities for improvement

Key Performance Indicators:
  • Audit exercises carried out
  • Audit reports compiled and submitted
  • Follow-up actions on audit report recommendations carried out

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The Internal Auditor should hold a bachelor’s degree preferably in B.Com (Accounting) or BBA plus 2nd Part of professional qualification such as ACCA or CPA or ACA
  • A minimum of three or more years of Audit experience or in reputable organisation.
  • Working knowledge of auditing principles and donor accountability requirements.

Our client, a leading global provider in logistics, is looking to hire a Finance Officer – Internal Audit.
The role will be based in Mombasa and will be reporting to the Regional CFO and General Manager.
Responsibilities:
Internal Audit
Audit and review of some of the critical business processes like cash and bank payments, loans & advances, accounts receivable & payable.
Some of the audit areas include:
  • Cash & Bank payment audits
  • User rights and access audit
  • Audit of commission, salary and other payments to staff
  • Audit of invoicing
  • Collections and posting
  • Various reconciliations (Sales, GP, Debtors etc)
  • Prepare a monthly/weekly report capturing audit observations.
  • Prepare a monthly work plan and share the audit plan with the management. Share the weekly progress reports.
  • Follow-up with the functional team to agree on an improvement plan/action plan.
  • Regularly review the status of the performance against the improvement plan.
  • Update management with critical gap and concern areas.
  • Highlight areas with tax/statutory risks.
  • Review of processes and transactions at port, terminal, branch offices and submit report to management.
Process Improvement and documentation
  • Support in documentation of various financial and operational processes.
  • Identify redundant processes and work with respective teams for improvement in the processes.
Requirements:
  • 1- 3 years working experience in internal audit in a multinational logistics/oil and gas environment
  • University degree in Accounting/Finance/Credit Management or a business related field with a 2:1 Or higher
  • Full CPA (K)/ ACCA or equivalent qualifications. CIA related qualification will be a significant advantage
  • Highly computer literate with proficiency in MS Office applications i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project and Outlook
  • Working knowledge on ERP system like Oracle, SAP will be an added advantage.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Audit;
  • Reviewing the job planning schedule and contacting the client to agree the audit time frame and other logistics for the audit.
  • Preparing the audit plan for partner approval prior to commencement of the audit.
  • Briefing the audit team on the audit plan and allocating the responsibilities to each member on the team
  • Carrying out an audit, following the audit plan under the supervision of the partner or audit manager.
  • Reviewing the permanent audit file and ensuring that all information is up to date.
  • Supervising the audit team and ensuring that the work carried out by the team is in accordance with the plan.
  • Adhering to the audit time frame and reporting any delays to the partner oraudit manager, as appropriate.
  • Completing the audit file for manager or partner review.
  • Clearing outstanding audit queries and finalizing the financial statements, management letter and letter of representation.
  • De briefing the audit team and providing feed back on job evaluations on each assignment.
  • Following up signed financial statements, letter of representation and management letter from the client.
  • Ensuring that progress and final fee notes are raised and assisting in following up payments
  • Taxation;
  • Reviewing the tax file and reconciling the tax account an dividing tax account the audit file
  • Ensuring that all outstanding tax matters are adequately brought to the attention of the partner
  • Ensuring that tax returns are received from the client and filed on a timely basis
  • Company Secretarial;
  • Reviewing the company secretarial file and registers, and ensuring that all secretarial records are up to date
  • Ensuring all outstanding secretarial issues including timely filing of returns are adequately brought to the attention of the partner
Other Duties
  • Carrying out any other tasks as may be delegated from time to time.
Requirements
  • CPA III or BCOM/equivalent education with CPA II or its equivalent
  • At least 6- 12 months experience in an Audit Firm
  • Computer literate and can demonstrate good use of MS excel including formatting reports and also very good in MS word, MS outlook together with other MS office packages.
  • Conversant with quick books and other accounting package and can demonstrate good use and understanding of quick books

Medical Advisor
  • Should be a qualified doctor with at least a Bachelor's degree in Medicine and relevant experience of at least, 3 years.
  • Strong background in dealing with work related diseases.
  • Skills necessary to write clear, concise documents, reports and other instructional materials.
  • Ability to represent the company via presentations to groups of experts, societies, regulatory bodies and at international meetings.
  • Must demonstrate commitment to RSSB's mission; vision and values;

  • Advising the DDG on medical claims;
  • Giving opinion on the appropriateness of medical claims sent by medical benefits access facilitator and medical benefits verification officer;

Pension Officer
  • Bachelor's degree in management, Finance, Economics, Law, public administration, Accounting, social sciences or any other related field with 2 years of experience.
  • Must demonstrate commitment to RSSB's mission, vision and values;
  • •Maintenance of sufficient and accurate records of members and their entitlements.
  • Ability to take ownership of issues or concerns and work with little direct supervision.
  • •Experience with social security, insurance companies or benefit consulting firm is a plus.
  • Fluency (both oral and written) in English, knowledge of French is an advantage.
  • Verifies at the second level pension and occupational hazards 1 beneficiaries application documents as received by benefits processing officer and their eligibility conditions;
  • Verifies investigation reports made on professional character of declared occupational hazards;

  • Master's degree in management, finance, Economics and Accounting or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, finance, management or any other related field with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Must demonstrate commitment to RSSB's mission, vision and values;
  • Ability to audit and identify potentially fraudulent cases.
  • Fluency (both oral and written) in English, knowledge of French is an advantage
  • Receives contributions from employers, and making sure they are received in the right amounts as per established laws;

  • Master's degree in management, finance, and Accounting or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Public Finance, Management specializing in Finance/Accounting with 2 years of experience.

  • Skill in performing detailed and complex numerical computations and reports.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of computerized accounting systems mainly in general software applications.
  • Fluency (both oral and written) in English, knowledge of French is an advantage

  • Coordinate all accounts data entry process;
  • Conduct the reconciliation of all General Ledger accounts;
  • Follow up assets depreciation and supervises the annual inventory ;
  • Makes follow-up of entries related to investments and equipments;

  • Ensures that all account balance are justified;
  • Prepares accounting document for adjustment entries;
  • Carries out the check up of monthly records;
