2014 Internship in Kenya
Position: Telemarketer Intern
Department: Customer Service
Reports to: Customer Service Team Leader
Nature and Scope of the Position
The telemarketer is responsible for soliciting orders for merchandise or services by telephoning customers.
They should be able to work with minimal supervision and be proactive.
Duties
  • Contact organizations by telephone, reading from scripts that describe products or services, in order to persuade potential customers to purchase a product or service.
  • Obtain customer information such as name, address, and payment method, and enter orders into an excel sheet.
  • Obtain names and telephone numbers of potential customers from sources such as telephone directories, magazine reply cards, newspapers etc
  • Adjust sales scripts to better target the needs and interests of specific individuals
  • Answer telephone calls from potential customers.
  • Maintain records of contacts, accounts, and orders.
  • Schedule appointments for sales representatives to meet with prospective customers or for customers to attend sales presentations
  • Conduct client or market surveys in order to obtain information about potential customers
  • Use a CRM software’s analytical tools and reporting to identify telemarketing opportunities
  • Follow up and document client’s interest in specific services
  • Qualify interests as leads upon which designate to a sales person
  • Initiate and track sales till close
  • Use wizard driven tools to keep clients informed and aware of services offered
  • Work with a catalogue of services and pricing options
  • Meet defined goals  for targeting clients and generating revenue
  • Maintain a mailing list aligned with client’s interests
  • Maintain a knowledge database of information  on services offered
Qualifications
Academic
  • Degree in communication or any related field
  • Professional qualification in Marketing will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge with Microsoft office
Experience
  • 1 year experience
