Cardno Emerging Markets (East Africa) with a consortium of
partners is implementing an innovative action research project, Private Sector
Innovation Programme for Health (PSP4H), to explore a new area for DFID Kenya,
namely the markets in which poor people pay for-profit providers and
shop-keepers for healthcare.;
The PSP4H utilizes the Making Markets Work for the Poor
(M4P) approach and will share lessons learned with both domestic and
international health stakeholders andpractitioners on the validity of this
method to design pro-poor health interventions.
The aim of the position is to formulate, lead and manage a
number of programme interventions (i.e., pilot action research projects) in
cooperation with private sector and other partners, to ensure that they
effectively deliver against the programme’s targeted outputs as defined in the
Terms of Reference and Logframe.

Position Description:
The Intervention Manager will develop and implement market-based pilot interventions within the strategic framework M4P.;

The position contributes to effective programme
implementation, particularly “understanding of drivers of for-profit health
market used by the poor gained from pilot interventions”, with consideration of
Value for Money (VfM).
Candidate Specifications:
- At least
10 years private sector experience (Private Sector health experience
preferred)
- Strong
management consulting experience with demonstrated ability to transfer PSD
experience to Public sector, and other Health Sector actors or experience
developing and guiding market development
- Demonstrated
experience in market system analysis and research
- A solid
understanding of M4P principles and the capacity to deliver M4P project
interventions.
- Minimum of
a Master’s degree in Business, Economics,; International development or
other related field;
- Good
writing and computer skills.
