The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) is a State
Corporation established under the Energy Act 2006.;
The Commission is mandated as the energy sector regulatory
agency responsible for economic and technical regulation of Electric Power,
Renewable Energy and Downstream Petroleum sub-sectors.;
To achieve this mandate the Commission is seeking to recruit
suitably qualified, experienced, result oriented and highly motivated
individuals to fill the following position:
Economist, Electricity
(ERC/EE/02.09 Job Grade 7)
(ERC/EE/02.09 Job Grade 7)
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Economic Regulation, the
position holder will obtain and analyze economic data; and evaluate the impact
of energy policies and regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in
the design and review of electricity tariffs and tariff structures;
- Participate
in the preparation of the Least Cost Power Development Plan;
- Participate
in the review and updating of renewable energy projects;
- Assist in
the computation of petroleum pump prices and petroleum price surveillance;
- Monitor
and evaluate the performance of the sub-sector utilities; and
- Undertake
research and policy analysis and prepare position papers and reports.
Qualification, Experience and skills
- A
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Econometrics, Energy Economics or
equivalent from a recognized university.
- A Master’s
degree in Energy Economics, Economics, Econometrics or equivalent.
- At least
five (5) years relevant experience.
- Good
understanding of the energy sector and particularly electric power
subsector.
- Excellent
analytical, report writing and interpersonal skills.
- Proven
competency in computer literacy.
