Job Objective
- Provides overall strategic HR leadership by planning,
developing and implementing strategies and policies of HR management.
- The job holder also fosters a workplace environment
consistent with the organisation’s values and mission, and leads the HR
team in the provision of proactive, result oriented services.
- Reporting to the Directors, the Group Human Resources
Manager is in-charge of all operations of the Human Resources Department.
- As such, he/she takes full responsibility of developing
and managing the department so as to ensure that the department provides
the best services to the Group.
Primary Responsibilities:
HR Planning and Recruitment:
HR Planning and Recruitment:
- Conduct and advice on staff recruitment, manpower and
succession planning. Exercise a proactive control over temporary
staffing and ensure optimal utilisation of manpower resources.
- Identifies and meets the company’s human resourcing
needs by applying the best methods to source for staff in order to ensure
continued business success.
- In liaison with the Departmental and School Heads,
compiling and ensuring that all Job Descriptions are up to date at all
times.
Training and Development:
- Identify the core business skills and develop
appropriate strategies to ensure that employees are adequately equipped by
training and experience to match these skill requirements.
- Ensure that induction, orientation and on the job
training are carried out on all staff.
- Assessing the training needs of all employees and
arrange/facilitate present and future training or development
requirements.
- Conduct follow ups of employee performance after training
to assess whether the training objectives have been achieved.
Performance Management
- Recommend and implement company and departmental
structural reviews by developing and implementing effective appraisal
systems, grading, and compensation.
- Ensure that formal and quality Performance Appraisal
reviews are undertaken biannually for all employees, and ensure that
appropriate action is taken on all matters arising from the reviews.
- Reports on measurable productivity at school and
departmental level on a monthly basis or as required, facilitating
implementation of appropriate headcount/establishment.
Compensation and Benefits
- Review and develop a formalised job evaluation system
throughout the group and related job designations, benefits and
remuneration as well as criteria for promotions.
- Carry out periodical Salaries and Benefits surveys in
order to determine market values for similar jobs in similar organisations
and recommend competitive remuneration structure aimed at retaining and
talented job holders highly motivated, and maintaining acceptable levels
of staff turnover.
Employee Relations
- Maintain proper employee relations ensuring adherence
to all requirements statutory and otherwise and represent the company in
the necessary forums that relate to the regulation of labour relations such
the Federation of Kenya Employers, Ministry of Labour and the Industrial
Court.
- Ensure mutuality and congruence between the group and
employees through staff motivation so that they see themselves more of
partners in the business
- Promote productive working relations by handling
disputes and grievances.
- Conduct research and surveys in best HR practices
locally and internationally and make recommendations based on the
findings.
- Direct and control staff in HR department to ensure
that they undertake their responsibilities effectively.
- Conduct exit interviews and make appropriate
recommendations to the Directors on issues arising there from.
Employee Welfare
- Ensures appropriate uniforms are provided to staff and
that working conditions are safe.
- Manage the company medical and other welfare schemes in
line with company guidelines and policies.
Experience:
- Five (5) years relevant experience in a similar
Skills and Certification:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human
Resources or other relevant field;
- Experience in a learning institution is preferred;
- Possess effective communication, presentation,
leadership and relationship building skills;
- Superior employee relations skills -an active listener,
compassionate and very understanding; and
- Demonstrate the passion for service delivery
