Press Technicians Job - Uganda

About MPL:
Monitor Publications Limited, a Nation Media Group Company is Uganda’s most influential media house, operating The Daily Monitor and Sunday Monitor newspapers, 93.3KFM, 90.4 Dembe FM, Nation Couriers and the Monitor Business Directory.
Job Summary: The Press Technicians will operate the press and auxiliary equipment property so as to timely produce a quality product and attain the print order in the most cost effective way for the MPL franchise.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Operates the reel stands, the printing press and auxiliary equipment
  • Ensures good quality materials are used on the press.
  • Generates production reports
  • Conducts minor maintenance of equipment
  • Carries out press shutdown
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by the Press Team Leader
  • Perform any other key job tasks as assigned by the Technical Manager.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • The Press Technicians should possess Uganda Certificate of Education (O Level) or equivalent Certificate in printing technology
  • Two or more years’ experience, preferably in a printing environment of a media house.
  • Very strong drive for results
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent planning and organization skills
  • Good report writing skills
  • Possess the ability to follow through and close issues
  • Willingness to work long hours
