Established in 1970, The Aga Khan Academy, Nairobi is a
private, co-educational school located on a five-acre plot with extensive
facilities in the Parklands suburb of Nairobi, Kenya.
The Academy offers the International Baccalaureate
Curriculum at Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma level, as well as the IGCSE
at Grades 10 and 11, and has an enrolment of 700 students.
The Aga Khan Academy, Nairobi is operated by the Aga Khan
Education Service, Kenya, a non-profit organization that operates 11 schools
in Kenya.
The Candidate
- The
successful candidate’s career will show evidence of strong pedagogical
leadership, a well-developed understanding of inquiry-based learning, and
the ability to contribute strongly to the school’s professional learning
community.
- The
Secondary Head Teacher must be familiar with the IB MYP and DP programmes
and have experience developing programs that address the evolving needs of
learners in the 21st century.
- He or she
must have the ability to work well with, and lead faculty in a collaborative
environment.

The successful candidate will:

- Have
secondary school administrative/leadership experience in an international
IB school;
- Have
worked for at least 5 years’ in international schools;
- Preferably
have an excellent understanding and experience in the IB MYP and DP and
the IGCSE;
- Provide
evidence of having developed effective appraisal, evaluation and
professional development for staff
- Ability to
work in an organization with central management functions and a Board of
Directors
- Experience
in a developing country. Experience in Africa is desirable.
- A proven
track record in the effective and efficient management of fiscal and human
resources
- A Masters
Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, or in Educational Leadership from a
reputable university.
