IWPR (Institute for War
& Peace Reporting) Rwanda
Journalism Trainer
Under the supervision of the
IWPR Senior Editor, provide professional-level training, mentoring and editing
services for partner media house journalists and independent journalists on a
regular basis. In addition, the trainer will be expected to work with Rwandan
journalists to produce features and content for local media outlets.
Specific
responsibilities include:
Working one-on-one with
journalists on:
Developing feature ideas,
Identifying interviewees,
Developing fair and balanced
story structures,
Fact-checking, and
Ensuring reporting conforms
to international reporting standards and Republic of Rwanda laws.
Co-delivering professional
level curricula on basic Journalism, international Journalism standards and
ethics, and the new Rwanda media laws
Co-training in how to use
recorders, still cameras, and editing software;
Supporting the maintenance
and improvement of editorial values and quality of all training.
Minimum
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of
experience working as a journalist
Experience training
journalists - citizen and/or professional
Demonstrated excellent
communication skills
Excellent speaking, writing,
and editing skills in Kinyarwanda
Very good speaking and
writing skills in English
Demonstrated excellent
decision making skills
Demonstrated ability to work
in a team
Demonstrated ability to
manage multiple tasks
Excellent editing skills in
Adobe Audition

Degree in Mass
Communications, Journalism, or Social Sciences
