Athletics Director Jobs Kenya

Scope of Responsibilities:

The ISK Athletic Director is responsible for the administration of the school-wide co-curricular athletics program. The position includes a 20% teaching load.
This role entails bringing to life the ISK mission, vision, and educational aims through athletics, inspiring student-athletes, leading people, and managing systems.
Some areas of responsibility related to facilities and equipment are shared with the Physical Education department head.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Lead all aspects of a comprehensive elementary, middle, and high school sports program
  • Coordinate ISK’s participation in ISSEA (international Schools of Southern and Eastern Africa) and the AISK (Association of International Schools Kenya)
  • Hire, mentor, supervise, and evaluate all sport coaches
  • Manage athletic facilities and supervise athletic caretakers, lifeguards, and fitness room supervisor
  • Prepare and administer the athletics budget, order supplies, maintain inventory, and schedule maintenance
  • Oversight of proactive communication with students and parents, including behavioural expectations, commitment requirements, schedules, and other
  • Proactive, consistent, and positive work with other co-curricular coordinators
  • Craft and implement athletic policy for the achievement of ISK’s Educational AIMS
  • Organize all international sports trips, local tournaments and interscholastic sports events
  • Organize seasonal awards ceremonies and the athletic banquets for major sports awards
  • Revise athlete and coaches athletic handbooks and hold seasonal coach meetings
  • Coordinate with ISK’s health office to ensure medical coverage during games and tournaments and communicate emergency issues and procedures for athletes
  • Communicate all athletic-related news, schedules, and events through the Link, the ISK website, and direct communication
  • Work collaboratively with the ISK Advancement Office, ISK Operations, and the divisional offices to improve, enhance, maintain and develop programs and facilities

  • Minimum University Degree, education certificate preferred
  • Administrative Certification (or equivalent credential) active or in progress
  • Formal coaching or playing background at a high level in sport
  • First Aid training and demonstrated commitment to student safety and wellness
  • Familiarity with large-scale secondary school athletic programs
  • Successful prior experience of at least 6 years as an educator as well as head of department or in other leadership role within a culturally diverse international school
  • Demonstrated record of student-centred decision-making
  • Demonstrated commitment to data tracking, systems management, and program building
  • Competent in the use of current educational and communication technologies
    Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Qualities:
  • Post-graduate degree in educational or athletic administration
  • Experience as an athletic director and with facilities and budget management
  • Experience coordinating and running large-scale athletic tournaments
  • Sense of humour
