Kenya Country Office seeks to fill the position of Programme Manager.
Reporting to
the Country Director, the incumbent will provide strategic leadership and
overall direction for the effective delivery of The Queen Elizabeth Diamond
Jubilee Trust funded Trachoma programme in Kenya, efficiently coordinating the inputs
of different partners and county and national government offices to ensure
programme objectives are met.
Key
Areas of Responsibility
Strategic
Program Planning: Define
the scope of the SAFE (Surgery, Antibiotics, Facial Cleanliness and
Environmental Hygiene) components of the program in collaboration with the
National Trachoma Office and key implementing partners.
Program
Management: Ensure
program partners execute the S, A, F &E components of the project according
to their respective project plans.
Program
Monitoring &Evaluation: Support
county teams in developing systems for monitoring andevaluating the performance
of the S&A components of the programme
Advocacy
&Strategic Alliances: Build
and maintain meaningful working relationships with bothgovernment and key civil
society stakeholders at county and national levels
Resource
Mobilization: Provide assistance in identifying
possible funding sources to support programme delivery and work with other
colleagues and implementing partners to secure those funds.
Research: Assist district teams and county
&national ministry of health and implementing partners in disseminating
information on S&A Program activities, studies, research and lessons
learned at county, national and international levels.
Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate donor
reports on project progress and impact according to requirements.
The ideal
candidate will be a Kenyan national (or any national with right to work in
Kenya) who possess a degree in a relevant field (Social Sciences, Development
Studies, Public Health,)
He/she must
have extensive programme management experience, with responsibility for large
donor funded budgets preferably in the area of eye health or a demonstrated
record of accomplishment in developing and managing public health programmes.
Extensive experience
in coordinating a large consortium grant is required as is experience in
advocacy, monitoring &evaluation, and management of large and complex
(multi-sectoral) projects.
He / she will
be a strategic thinker, who possesses strong critical thinking, problem
solving, analytical and presentation skills with ability to influence
high-level ministry officials at both county and national levels.
