Development is a full-service firm focused on developing small to medium
enterprises. Our client services are designed to help businesses develop and
improve their capacity. Founded in 2011, Inkomoko identifies Rwandan
entrepreneurs and provides them with business education, mentorship, technical
support and access to affordable capital, so that they can grow their
businesses and create jobs for others. Inkomoko is a registered Rwandan
business that has served over 40 innovative and inspiring entrepreneurs since
inception. Through an exciting partnership with African Entrepreneur
Collective, a US-based NGO, we are in a period of rapid growth and
expansion.
THE OPPORTUNITY &
RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for a highly talented and passionate Finance Director to provide highest quality programming for our clients and entrepreneurs. The Finance Director will join a small start-up team, and will report to the Managing Director.
CLIENT
SERVICES
Inkomoko works with 100 high-potential SMEs each year. We strive to provide high-quality, business development services so that they can grow their enterprises and create jobs in their communities.
·
Manage all client finance services, including oversight of
financial analysis and projections in client business plans.
·
Develop and maintain relevant partnerships and collaborations with
other government and private sector financial institutions in Rwanda and
abroad; maintain an extensive network of referral sources.
·
Ensure smooth implementation of business education programming,
including recruiting new entrepreneurs and connecting them to the full slate of
services to them (formal education, mentorship pairing, and technical
assistance).
·
Actively solicit new contracts for our for-profit financial
consulting arm, and perform scope of work, and allocate resources for effective
project management.
·
Generate new loan business that meets Inkomoko’s accelerator
program standards for credit quality, social impact, and revenue targets.
·
Conduct due diligence for all prospective lending; drive execution
of funding through negotiation and deal structuring; negotiate and prepare term
sheets.
·
Respond to inquiries from prospective borrowers; develop
relationships and promote lending products to prospective clients; conduct site
visits with prospective borrowers.
·
Expand financing as appropriate to existing qualified loan
clients.
LOAN
FUND MANAGEMENT
Inkomoko is currently capitalizing a 1 million USD revolving loan fund. The Finance Director will play an integral part in developing this service, including:

Oversee loan fund activities, ensuring effective deployment of
loans and repayment to maximize organizational revenue and social impact,
taking into consideration risk and liquidity.
·
Work with the Managing Director to develop loan fund strategies,
including growing the fund and identifying partners.
·
Maintain compliance and accountability controls for client
borrowers and fund performance, and prepare reports for fund investors in compliance
with revenue targets and social impact assessments.
·
Conduct due diligence on prospective borrowers; prepare credit
reports for and lead the monthly Investment Committee meetings.
·
Offer excellent customer service to lead and manage relationships
with existing borrowers through regular conversations, correspondence, and site
visits as needed.
OPERATIONS &
ADMINISTRATION
·
Supervise financial support staff.
·
Work closely with the Managing Director to develop and update
financial projections and budgeting for Inkomoko’s operations and client
services.
·
Perform other duties as assigned.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
The new Finance Director will need to be an expert in the field of development finance. We are looking for individuals who can bring lasting impact to our work. Successful candidates must navigate fast-paced and resource-constrained environments with enthusiasm, patience, and imagination. We prefer those individuals who have previously taken on significant leadership and management responsibilities, and who have had experience working in ambiguous environments.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
INCLUDE:
- Expert in SME finance, with experience in loan funding,
finance, or other business-related fields
- Experience working in Rwanda, or other emerging
markets, with small and medium enterprises, preferably with capacity
building or education initiatives
- Self-starter, with proven ability to produce results
within budget and time deadlines
- Proven track record of leadership, planning and
management responsibilities, including staff supervision
- Unrelenting perseverance, personal integrity, and
critical thinking skills
- Commitment to the mission of Inkomoko
- 5+ years of work experience in relevant or applicable
field, including financial and operational due diligence of small
businesses and familiarity with legal aspects of investment structures.
- Fluency in oral and written English required
- Must have the ability to analyze for-profit and
non-profit financial statements. Must have deep and broad asset and cash
flow based credit analysis skills as well as demonstrated financial
modeling skills.

Must be able to effectively use standard business software such as
Microsoft Office; and to use the Internet for research and
information-gathering

Must have own computer and cell phone
·
Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Business
Administration or Finance, MBA or other relevant advanced degree strongly
preferred
