Accounting Jobs in Nairobi


Job Duties:
  • Prepares the Nairobi cashbooks multi currency and conducts financial reconciliations.
  • Prepares journals for entry into the central accounting system both from Nairobi cashbooks and from field cashbooks (ensuring reconciliations have been accurately prepared to bank statements).
  • Prepares financial reports for projects, ensuring compliance with donor requirements e.g. UNICEF, EU, USAID, DFID. including grant applications when required
  • Ensures all supporting documentation required for year end and project reports is obtained promptly on a monthly basis from field offices and AET stations Prepares Payment request on a monthly basis Prepares cashflow forecasts.
  • Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options.
  • Summarizes current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports.
  • Secures financial information by completing data base backups Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Builds capacity of AET field finance and programme staff in accounts and financial management.
    Skills/Qualifications:
  • Fully qualified accountant with experience of Donor Compliance (especially EU), Reporting Skills, Attention to Detail, Deadline-oriented, Reporting Research Results, experience of managing finance in a field office, Confidentiality and Honesty, Staff Training skills, Ability to Communicate Clearly with Staff in other Countries and Cultures, Time Management, Advanced Excel skills, Computer systems development, Data Entry Management, Hands on experience in an accounting package
  • Experience - 5 years practical accountancy experience
  • Travel – Must be willing to travel to AET programmes.
