About PC:
Peace Corps (PC) is an
agency of the United States Government, which brings American volunteer
development workers to assist Uganda in capacity building and technical
assistance activities in Health, Education and Community Economic Development.
There are about 160 Volunteers assigned to non-government organizations,
government entities, clinics, colleges and schools. Peace Corps also aims to
build cultural understanding between Americans and Ugandans. All positions require
excellent command of English, both spoken and written; native ability in spoken
and written in at least one widely spoken Ugandan language. The positions require
extensive travel.

Job Summary: The
Training and Program Assistant will primarily offer administrative and
logistical support for the efficient and high functioning of the training unit
and some support for the programming efforts.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of
the Training and Organizational Learning Manager and with input from others in
the training unit, the assistant will organize all training planning meetings.
·
Assist with selection of
training venues and recruitment of training temporary staff.
·
Rigorously engages and
communicates with all external trainers, Peace Corps Volunteer trainers and
staff trainers to invite and inform them of their training roles and schedules.
Inputs data into database as part of this effort.
·
Coordinates timely
review and preparation of materials sent to the US to orient and inform new
Volunteers to help them prepare for travel and living in Uganda.
·
Maintain and updates all
soft copy of all training sessions, records, and reports in an organized folder
system.
·
Manages training site
logistics that may include sub-cashier duties.
·
Coordinates updating
Volunteer and Supervisor handbooks. Tracks and updates Volunteer committee
lists.
·
Coordinates staff
bulletin that is sent out to Volunteers
·
Perform any other duties
and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills
and Experience:
·
The applicant must
possess a Bachelor of Arts or Science in any field.
·
Prior experience of at
least three years working in a cross-cultural setting meeting the needs of
international employees and / or customers through face-to-face and telephone,
email interactions.
·
Language: Verbal fluency
in one or more local Uganda dialects.
·
At least a year’s
experience in non-profit organizations or private business
·
Peace Corps Uganda is
looking for a dynamic communicator and problem solver to fill this position.
·
The applicant should
have passion and creative drive to join the Peace Corps staff that support
training for about 80 new entrants and program support to 160 Volunteers in
Uganda to be effective in their assignments.
