Main Purpose of the
Position
The Resettlement Coordinator is responsible for managing RefugePoint’s Resettlement Program in Nairobi and for supporting the resettlement component of the agency’s regional Collaboration Project with UNHCR.

- Supervise, mentor and technically support the
resettlement team to ensure high quality, efficient and professional
implementation of the Resettlement Program;
- Maintain professional, technically sound resettlement
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure that the Resettlement
Program adheres to these SOPs and other applicable internal and external
guidelines;
- Review and conduct quality assurance of all
Resettlement Registration Forms (RRFs) and provide clear and consistent
feedback to caseworkers in person and in writing to ensure high quality
work;
- Maintain strong working relationships with UNHCR and
resettlement country representatives through timely response to enquiries
and periodic meetings;
- Conduct regular resettlement casework, often for urgent
and/or complex cases, and produce high quality RRFs;
- Provide monthly reports to the Country Director
including number of resettlement intake and follow up interviews,
submissions to resettlement countries, updates from interagency meetings,
and overview of challenges faced and identified solutions;
2. Regional UNHCR
Collaboration Project Support (40%)
- Coordinate the recruitment of Resettlement Experts to
staff the regional collaboration project;
- Train newly recruited Resettlement Experts for a
minimum of 2 weeks on topics including core refugee law concepts, resettlement
criteria, and practical interviewing and RRF preparation skills, and
provide newly recruited staff with orientation on RefugePoint’s overall
mission and on the UNHCR Collaboration Project;
- In accordance with SOPs, gather and closely review monthly
narrative and case tracking reports from Resettlement Experts, follow up
on issues presented, and collate into one programmatic report to be shared
internally;
- In accordance with SOPs, conduct regular check-ins with
Resettlement Experts to identify best practices, troubleshoot problems,
and generally foster strong communication among RefugePoint’s programs;
- Assist the Associate Director of International Programs
with completion of regular financial and narrative reporting to UNHCR;
- When needed, conduct occasional resettlement
deployments to remote and challenging locations in Africa, including
refugee camps;
3. Resettlement Program
Development (20%)
- Keep up to date with global, regional and local
resettlement guidelines and policies;
- Develop and maintain a Training Curriculum for new
resettlement staff both in the Nairobi program and in the regional UNHCR
Collaboration Project;
- Provide ongoing technical support to all RefugePoint
resettlement staff throughout the continent to help ensure consistently
high quality resettlement work throughout RefugePoint locations;
4. Ensure the highest
standards of professionalism (throughout all above activities):
- Adhere to RefugePoint’s code of conduct, Standard
Operating Procedures, guiding principles, and uphold the highest
professional ethical obligations;
- Meet deadlines consistently, resolve challenges in a
collaborative manner, and maintain responsive lines of communication with
all levels of management and staff;
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or five years related experience
required;
- Degree in Law or related field of study strongly
preferred;
- 3 to 5 years experience working in the refugee context;
- Demonstrated program management experience;
- English language fluency required; French ability a
plus;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills;
- Experience training groups preferred;
- Strong writing and analytical skills;
- Strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills;
- Ability to navigate administrative systems and work
effectively and efficiently in a structured environment;
- Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure,
maintaining flexibility and attention-to-detail under challenging
circumstances;
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office;
knowledge of ProGres database or the ability to learn computer programs
quickly an advantage;
- Ability to travel in Africa on short notice and
sometimes under difficult conditions, including to refugee camps, remote
areas and sometimes high security environments;
- Commitment to adhere to RefugePoint and UNHCR Code of
Conduct and conduct oneself in a professional and courteous manner at all
times.
