CHAI:
The
Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is a global health
organization committed to strengthening integrated health systems in the
developing world and expanding access to care and treatment for HIV/AIDS,
malaria and other diseases. CHAI’s solution-oriented approach focuses on
improving market dynamics for medicines and diagnostics; lowering prices for
treatment; accelerating access to life-saving technologies; and helping governments
build the capacity required for high-quality care and treatment programs.
Job Summary: The
Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is seeking to engage seven highly
capable individuals to act as Regional Coordinators in a cold chain inventory
(CCI) exercise. CHAI works closely with the National Medical stores (NMS)
and the Ministry of Health’s vaccines programme and the Uganda National
Expanded Programme on Immunisation (UNEPI).
CHAI
is undertaking a CCI to assess the cold chain capacity and condition at all
levels of the health system. This will involve inspecting and recording
details on every piece of cold chain equipment at all health facilities in the
country, establishing a baseline for key vaccine infrastructure investment
decisions and laying the foundation for a cold chain which will serve
the vaccination needs of Uganda for many years to come.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work in liaison with
District and Facility level officials to ensure access to facilities
- Take lead of a team of
12 Data Collectors.
- Offer support training
of Data Collectors with UNEPI, NMS and CHAI.
- Devise a detailed
facility schedule and route for Data Collectors.
- Schedule visits to a
range of facilities each day and inspect data quality.
- Keenly track and
report progress of data collection to the central team.
- Provide data to the
central team in a timely manner
- Perform any
other tasks as requested by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills &
Experience:
- Prior experience in
large scale data collection and data management.
- Excellent people
management experience, including managing large teams remotely.
- Possess the ability to
handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritise effectively.
- The applicants should
possess engineering or mechanical experience (especially cold chain).
- Possess the ability to
work independently and in a highly proactive manner.
- Significant experience
in a demanding and results-oriented environment
- Highly organised,
logical and detail-oriented with strong computer skills.
- Strong work ethic,
integrity and flexibility.
- Highly personable with
strong communication and relationship skills.
